How to stop your news and updates being ignored.

If your key messages aren’t instantly clear, they move on. The good news? You can fix this. Here are 2 strategies you can employ to make sure your news actually get noticed.

You’ve just posted an important piece of news.

Your company has hit a major milestone, secured a new contract, or delivered strong financials. But when you check the market reaction… nothing happens.

No spike in share price. No uptick in volume. What went wrong?

The reality: most investors won’t read your news.

Investors are bombarded with information every day.

Between market news, earnings reports, and global events, it’s easy for your news to get lost in the noise. Even the investors who do open it?

They skim.

If your key messages aren’t instantly clear, they move on. The good news? You can fix this. Here are 2 strategies you can employ to make sure your news actually get noticed.

1. Clarity over complexity.

Write for skimmers, not analysts.

Investors don’t have time to decipher jargon. The best updates are clear, concise, and structured for quick reading. Here's a quick example below.

Title: Instead of something generic like “Company Update – March 2025”, try something more compelling that will get an investor to click, like “$10M Contract Secured with Global Tech Giant”.

Highlights: Instead of running through the contents of the announcement paragraph by paragraph, try focusing on the points that explain why your company an attractive investment. Investors should get the key takeaways in 5 seconds or less.

If you've recorded a video to accompany the update, highlight this here.

2. Focus on the ‘so what?’ factor.

Majority of updates tell investors what happened but forget to explain why it matters. Treat every line in your update as valuable real estate.

Instead of rattling off a list of facts like “We have entered into a new agreement with XYZ Corp”, try adding qualifiers that contextualise what the fact means for the investor - “The XYZ Corp agreement is expected to generate $5M in additional revenue, strengthening our cash flow and accelerating growth.”

Apply these strategies to every investor-facing piece of content, and to your website as well.  If this is something you need help with, speak to your dedicated CSM or reply to this email to discuss your messaging.

Cheers,
